Lorna Hobbs
Clinical Psychologist (HCPC )
I've been working in the helping professions for 22 years, and since qualifying as a Clinical Psychologist in 2018 I've worked with children, adolescents and families within the NHS, and with adults in private practice. I'm committed to providing assessment and therapy in a safe and non-judgemental setting; providing sensitivity and understanding while helping young people and families gain insight into their difficulties and take steps towards positive change. .
I take an integrative and person-centred approach to my work, drawing on Cognitive Behavioural approaches such as Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT), and also on systemic models, mindfulness, parts work, attachment and developmental approaches.
My areas of interest and expertise are working with LGBTQ+ young people and adults around gender and sexuality, minority stress, diversity & inclusion, and intersectionality. I offer clinical supervision in these areas also.
I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of East London (UEL). Prior to that, I earned a PhD in Psychosexual Difficulties at University College London (UCL). I am HCPC registered. In addition to my clinical work, I deliver gender and sexuality workshops for staff across different sectors, and am a guest lecturer in the medical school at UCL.
