Introduction to Somatic Experiencing (SOSI)
Both professionally and personally my interest lies in the impact of early life adversity on relational health and well-being. In how a disconnection from nature, from those around us and from our own bodies manifests in physical and/or mental health challenges. In my work as a Clinical Psychologist I’m interested in how to integrate and apply diverse therapeutic approaches to help heal from adversity and tailor support according to needs.
When I became a parent, I realised the value in providing a ‘safe enough’ space for parents and/or carers to reflect on their experiences and resources to better meet the needs of their children. Working in such diverse cultures as Australia, USA and Japan has highlighted the need to consider how societal beliefs and constructs can impact on how we make sense of our experiences.
The Apricot Centre provides a uniquely holistic space enabling me to use my integrated approach to work creatively with children, young people and families.
