Designing Regenerative Food Systems - And why we need them now'.
I’m privileged as Marinas husband to have shared the full journey towards her newly published book 'Designing Regenerative Food Systems - And why we need them now'.
Marina has been studying and developing regenerative food systems since the early 90s and her book shows how different approaches, each with specific benefits, can be woven together to create productive holistic living systems. Marinas farms include a farm in Manningtree Essex (now called Peach and Pippin) and the new Apricot Centre farm (established 2014) at Huxhams Cross in Dartington Devon, each farm system shows how regenerative systems mature and biodiversity and carbon sequestration develop over time. I am always struck by how birdsong increases as each system evolves.
The Glebe Fields (part of Huxhams farm) also in Dartington demonstrate a regenerative food system in its early stages of development (started June 2021), which we hope will inspire other custodians of church land to harness the benefits of regenerative approaches to meet the Diocese 2030 carbon neutral target and much more. The book provides a detailed foundation of knowledge and experience to help aspiring regenerative farmers get going.
'Designing Regenerative Food Systems' is a timely book and available more widely for sale from Monday 21st February on Amazon. But if you have the chance to order it from your local bookstore or directly from the committed publisher Hawthorn Press that would be a great idea.
